Gerald Langiri is a name that is not so common to many. Gerald hosts an online talk show dubbed “In the Forest”. The show has about 13 episodes with the season finale scheduled to be aired on 24th June 2013 with Brenda Wairimu as the guest.
The series is meant to prank actors and actresses with the host being a total jerk ass until the guests reach their breaking point. I happened to be on YouTube just browsing through the videos before I landed on their first episode.
Just as the name of the series suggest, the show takes place in the forest and starts with Gerald Langiri taking a dump in the forest. They have “sponsors” like “Brushes Kufagia” and “toilet paper MWIBA”. The sponsors get thrown around during the show which prompts others to pull out… in real time. LOL, very funny.
In the Forest Episode One

Clik here to view.On the first episode, Gerald was interviewing Lizz Njagah. For those who do not know her, Lizz Njagah is a hot Kenyan actress married to one Alex Konstantaras. Lizz started out with plays and soon joined TV acting in series like “Makutano Junction” as Nancy. Internationally, she also features in other movies like ‘Die Winterreise’ which is German. Her name also comes up in famous series like “Tare Duke” and “Tinsel”.
The episode was absolutely hilarious which got me watching another episode after another.
- Episode 2 was Gerald Langiri vs Gitau Ngogoyo
- Episode 3 was Gerald Langiri vs Nice Githinji
- Episode 4 was Gerald Langiri vs Alex Konstantaras
- Episode 5 was Gerald Langiri vs Helena Waithera
From the 5 that I watched on YouTube, my best was episode 4 which featured Alex Konstataras, who is the husband of Lizz Njagah of episode 1 and apparently also had a thing with Helena Waithera of episode 5. The episode was absolutely funny with a twist in the beginning with some guy who first pretended was Alex before Alex himself showed up.
The episode had highlights which totally cracked me up, like the point where Gerald Langiri asks Alex Konstantaras questions like
“Between Lupita Nyong’o and Helena, who gave better sex?”
“Why do you like skinny women?”
Between Hellena Waithera and Lizz Njagah, who was better in Sex, in bed?”
“How do you feel when you see your wife being kissed by other men kissed on TV?”
When I was done, I could not wait to watch the others to be released and so I had to subscribe to their channel on YouTube and also like their facebook fanpage(Do not wonder why they still have just above 400 likes, I will tell you why).
In the Forest Crew
There was this time that I was watching another episode that I was curious about the genius brains behind the series. I wish I wasn’t because I could still be a loyal follower of the series. How I missed this in the previous episodes, I still can’t explain. I guess you get so carried away with the jokes that you do not have an eye for other tiny details.
So apart from Gerald Langiri, the credits at the end of every episode showed Alex Konstantaras as the director and editor of the series.
OK, let’s take a little break for our sponsor, Mulika mwizi….
I think for a talk show like “In the forest”, it is funny/or sad when the show ends and you see something like this on the credits:
Filmed – directed – edited
Alex Konstantaras
Presenter
Gerald Langiri
Guest appearance
Niko Gerald
Alex Konstantaras
When Alex Konstantaras shows up for the show, he does not even know Gerald Langiri. He goes ahead with the interview and the poor guy is perplexed by the kind of question the ever serious Gerald Langiri hammers.
Here are 2 scenarios to explain this:
Scenario 1: Alex has an identical twin brother who is also the director and editor of the talk show (they also share the same name by the way). The brother decided to prank him and hence the turn of events.
Scenario 2: In the Forest is just a stage managed sorry show and instead of the actors being pranked, it is the viewers being pranked. Alex Konstantaras is the producer, director and editor of the talk show. How can he explain episode 4 with him coming up for the interview not knowing the host or anything about the show.
It is pathetic that a producer can opt to have an interview can be scripted. What is the point of it being an interview in the first place? They could have just said that it is a comedy show featuring all those familiar faces they bring as guests.
Apart from In The Forest, What Else has Alex Konstantaras Done?
Ok, that issue aside, let us dig a little bit deeper into the works of Mr. Konstantaras. Alex Konstantaras and the wife Lizz Njagah (Not sure if Alex is aware that Lizz is his wife), have come up with Kenya’s first “sexy comedy” show dubbed “House of Lungula” which is yet to be released.
The very naked teaser is already out on YouTube and many people cannot wait for it especially with familiar faces like Ian Mbugua and Nice Githinji. It looks like a very promising show with a little touch of uniqueness that has been lacking in our film industry. Maybe finally Kenyans will stop watching boring Nigerian movies.

Clik here to view.Funny enough, the rest of the cast includes:
Lizz Njagah, Sarah Hassan, Gerald Langiri, Nice Githinji, Lenana Kariba, Sheila Kwamboka, Gitau Ngogoyo, Helena Waithera, Lydia Gitachu, Diana Nekoye, Auma Njagah, Natassa Papadaki. Guest appearances by Alex K and Chura Konstantaras(the turtle that gave Juliani’s girlfriend goosebumps on the final episode of In the Forest).
The big question is who is fooling who?
Lizz Njagah, Nice Githinji, Gitau Ngogoyo, Helena Waithera, Lenana Kariba and Sheila Kwamboka were all guests of the talk show, In the Forest. These guys were all posing naked(House of Lungula cover photo) with the host Gerald Langiri but later appears to them as a total stranger during his show.
From this I can simply conclude that just like their show “Meet the Konstantaras” , In the Forest is a big joke that is not funny at all. The whole show is stage managed in the first place and so it would be hard to trust any other “legit” episodes that will come afterwards.
In the forest was a great idea but they ought to have been real from the word go. As much as the Kenyan industry need likes of Alex Konstantaras, I think we are better off watching films as films, talk shows as talk shows and not just act out everything for viewership.
Now that I know what Mr Alex Konstantaras is doing with his genius idea of In the Forest, how is he going to convince me that “Meet the Konstantaras” will be a complete reality show and not an act? I think they should just leave it to the Kardashians and focus on “House of Lungula”.
