In one of the best gestures for Kenyans, American rapper Trinidad James is raising funds for the Garissa Terrorist Attack Victims. This is welcome news for the families of those left behind especially having to contend with the meager support the victims from Garissa got compared to the Westgate Terror Attack Victims.

In a lengthy message posted for the campaign, James sets a goal of $147,000, seeking to distribute amongst the 147 families who lost loved ones during the attack.

Trinidad James in Kenya

The GoFundMe initiative that the rapper has started has this to say

My name is Trinidad James. I’m an artist from Atlanta,GA. I was born in Trinidad and Tobago and I currently live in Los Angeles, California. I want to bring awareness to a subject and issue that happened in the world this year. The issue happened in Kenya at Garissa Univeristy College. A terrorist group came in and killed 147 students. Amongst the 147, a policemen, solidier and two watchmen were also killed.

The number of casualties makes it one of the deadliest terror attacks in the country’s recent history. So many things happen in Africa and I personally believe it gets swept under the rug. Today, I would like to take the time to ask the world to CARE and BE AWARE. The 147 people killed were fathers, sons, mothers, daughters, and grandparents who didn’t deserve what happened to them.

I’m coming to you today because I want to raise 147,000 (US Dollars) to give back to the families of the victims who died that sad day in Kenya. In addition, I will be doing a free concert in Kenya to raise more money on top of the 147,000 (US Dollars) that we raise to disburse to the families in Africa while I’m there. I would also like to be able to present a check to Kenya at the end of the show for 147,000 for those families who lost a loved one in this tragic incident. Please help and DONATE! We are taking anything from a dollar and up! I appreciate you for taking the time out to read this and I hope that I moved you in a way to get you aware of what’s going on in Kenya. Tell a friend to tell a friend that we are trying to help Kenya, Africa and most importantly the WORLD. Thank you! #TrinidadInKenya

Incentives for Trinidad James’ GoFundMe campaign include exclusive “Trinidad in Kenya” t-shirts, a Skype call, an exclusive performance in your hometown and more

The concert held a concert titled Pray for Kenya on October 7th for the same cause.

As Kenyans we are glad that we can get all the support and love we are getting from around the world. From the hashtag #147notjustanumber to the 147 Croation students who lay down for their comrades, we thank you kindly.

As for Trinidad James, please visit Kenya soon. We’ll be happy to welcome you home.
