After 5 weeks of denial and protestations, KDF has come to accept what Kenyans had agreed on 5 weeks ago. Members of the KDF looted from Westgate.
In what is a major and shocking turnaround, General Julius Karangi admitted that two KDF officers had already been sacked for looting from the Westgate Mall. A week ago, Gen. Karangi had furiously denied that soldiers under his command were looters. He suggested that the soldiers who could be seen walking out of Westgate with nakumatt paper bags were only taking water.
Flanked by Defence Cabinet Secretary Raychelle Omamo, Principal Secretary Dr Monica Juma, Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo, Director of Criminal intelligence Ndegwa Muhoro, Deputy KDF chief Lt. Gen. Samson Mwathethe, Army Commander Lt. Gen Joseph Kasaon, his Kenya Air Force counterpart Major Gen Joff Otieno and KDF spokesman Col. Cyrus Oguna, the media again allowed him to get away without answering questions that matter.
In the press conference, Victor Otieno and Victor Ashiundu were named as the sacked officers while another was still under investigations.
