In more shocking news this morning a train has hit a Matatu at Mutindwa.
Initial reports from the scene indicate that the Matatu belonging to Ummoinner was hit at the notorious Mutindwa intersection. The Ummoinner Matatus are notorious for breaking traffic rules and playing loud music.
Current reports from the scene indicate that 6 people may have died and many more seriously injured.
Update to UmoInner Accident
According to the Kenya Red Cross the number of dead in the Mutindwa Train Crash has now reached 11 people. 24 casualties are reported to be in KNH, Mama Lucy Kibaki Hostpital, MP Shah Hospital and Aga Khan Hosptial.
There have been reported clashes in the Outer Ring area with people stoning UmoInner Buses. The claim is that they are angered by the accident. However, it should be noted that the area is notorious for public transport vehicle rivalries. We hope it is not a competitor who’s taking advantage of the situation.
One of the competing owners of the UmoInner buses happens to be Senator Mike Sonko who has resisted attempts to have people living next to the railway line removed for their safety. Of course he had to come show his condolences as he usually does. Question is do his matatus also behave as badly as Imoinner?
True to form on Citizen TV, Mike Sonko went ahead and blamed lack of barriers and the poor construction of the road. Not the driver who was overlapping.
