An interview on KTN featured both Eluid Owalo and Okiya Omtatah in a quest to provide an insight on the ongoing March Fourth Movement. Eluid Owalo was suspected by the police to be planning plots to destabilize the Jubilee government by recruiting youths from slums and urban areas in a quest to create public unrest.
The police are suspecting Mr. Owalo to be driving an Egypt like coup which finally overthrew their government. The police also suggested that the movement was getting foreign funding in order for them to push the M4M agenda in Kenya.
Eluid Owalo is Raila Odinga’s aide and helped the CORD coalition during their campaign trail which saw the CORD lose the presidential seat to Jubilee’s Uhuru Kenyatta. With the police failing to point out the accusers of Mr. Owalo, he refused to record a statement after he visited the CID headquarters on Kiambu Road.
In another twist of events, political activist Okiya Omtatah claimed to be the founder of the March 4th Movement, the same movement that Mr. Owalo was accused of running. He has come out to prove that ownership of the movement which he claims has now over 200,000 members.
It would be interesting to see how this saga continues and how the police will explain their actions so far. Is it a case of mistaken identity or as many supporters of CORD put it, is it a plot to target and silence the CORD members who have been criticizing the Jubilee governance.
Eluid Owalo Wants to be a Member of M4M
In the interview, Mr. Owalo seemed to be interested in joining the M4M as Okiya Omtatah convinced him with the agenda of the movement. In summary he explained that the objective of the movement is to move the Kenyan presidency from “The Tyranny of Numbers” to “The Safety of Numbers”
